I could have sworn someone lent Quinn some items (or at least a weapon of some sort) before or during the trip, but I can’t find any reference to it anywhere. I can only find Reldmun’s offer to Quinn to lend him some items (from Shane’s 04/20/2014 email, Tortes Illustrated), which was met with no response. Does anyone know, or does Quinn not currently have a weapon?
I’ve also lost track of what weapon Konishi is carrying (I actually don’t have an updated character sheet for him since he gained a level! So no money or items information at all – Drew, do you haven any recent information for Konishi?)
Satuday, February 5th, 402 (1:13 a.m.) [15]:
The party waits a tense two minutes while Reldmun casts his spells, and to their relief they hear nothing but silence outside their cabin door, indicating (hopefully) that Caleb is not in any danger. Once the spell is cast, the men brace themselves for whatever might lie beyond the door, and then fling it open. Immediately ahead they see only the main deck, with the familiar sleepy guard post on the opposite side (roughly fifty feet away) clearly not aware of anything out of the ordinary. Immediately to their right, though, and floating at the top of the stairs leading to the forecastle, they see a dark, hovering, roughly humanoid shape descending slowly, seemingly not yet cognizant of the door having been opened as it has not reacted to it at all (in any obvious way, anyway).
[Reldmun sees a shimmering coat of sickly green and blue reminiscent of the hue he saw on the figurehead surrounding the shadowy figure]
The shadow creature is not approaching menacingly, rather it is descending the ladder slowly. It does not appear to be using the ladder, per se, in that what appear to be its legs aren’t moving up and down as it descends, but it stays near enough to the ladder that it seems as though it needs it in some way. If, indeed, the shape has not yet seen the party, it must be only a second or two away from noticing them, considering how close they are to each other already. There is no sign of Caleb anywhere. The party pulls back and closes the door so as to avoid detection [presumably this is in line with Shane’s indicated intention to follow the creature, and Ryan is okay with Ydoran holding back before heading out to the deck, under the circumstances]. Within thirty seconds, the men can see the blackness seeping in under the cabin door. What will they do?

The shadow glows!
Hi J,
To my knowledge [and after reviewing campaign e-mails] the only things given to Quinn [at least in the group e-mails] were clothes & boots purchased by Reldmun and the cost of the voyage by Ydoran. As you mentioned, the doctor did also offer to buy other items (weapons, armor, etc) but no action was taken he didn’t know what to buy due to a lack of a reply.
Campaign:
The doctor’s eyes widen in excitement as he sees the inky form highlighted [at least to his own eyes] by the magics granted to him by Bride. He knows any sane man should be scared but he is too fascinated by what he is seeing.
Once the doctor reasons enough of the shadow has seeped under the door to strike [six inches] he will swing his mace down with all his might hoping to smite the intruder. [Note: Reldmun has a +1 to attack & damage due to his Riddlemaster kit.]
If the shadow:

Doesn’t Konishi still have Hafkris’ broadsword? You know, I miss our favourite half-orc slaver! He was so easy going after Caleb beaned him with that big rock…
Saturday, February 5th, 402 (1:13 a.m.) [15]:
Ydoran waits the unbearable two minutes with great concern for Caleb, before being able to react to the shadow seeping in under the doorway,
If nobody else offers Quinn a better weapon in the meantime, Ydoran will attempt to splinter off about 12 inches from the end of his staff in order to give Quinn a wooden shiv not unlike those he was accustomed to using on the island. If Quinn manages to find a better weapon in the meantime or there is enough time to perform both actions, Ydoran will attack the shadow following Reldmun, preferring to let it seep little more than roughly half-way in before ambushing it.
I hope this shadowy entity in not insubstantial in as far as our weapons will have an effect on it! The young student thinks to himself, at the same time trying his best to summon the strength required for an effective attack in his present condition.
