Sunday October 2nd, 402 (1:37 p.m.) [17]:

Hearing that the stranger has not only picked up on his not-so-subtle message but is receptive to it, the sot’s eyebrows bob briefly and he leans back in his chair with poise and an air of pride. “Would you believe I got not two coppers for a service worth no less than two-enty gold coins*?” Putter’s left eye twitches a bit as he gauges whether Drayven has noticed his clumsy shift in estimating what the information is worth. Dropping the pretense, he adds “And a round on the house for good measure?” while glancing to the bar to see who he might be impressing with this act of largesse and letting his eyes linger on Kai a little longer than the others.

Reaching into his pocket, the sad sack extracts a half-crumpled piece of paper, gently flattens it on his already-soiled shirt and leaves upon it another small smear of blood from the note, and places it gingerly on his glass. “Take it, it’s yours,” he says, trying to stifle how tickled his is over his windfall. “So you know where – oh, you’re not from around here, are you? – so, there’s a building down by the pier, when you go down the main road to the water, turn right, you’ll see a building, one of the bigger ones maybe three hundred paces down the way, it’s got a big wooden fish over the door instead of a regular sign like the others down there. They don’t need a sign, everybody knows the place, it’s got the best chowder you’ll taste on the island. Get some, you’ll thank me, good prices, too. Okay, so stand in front of that building, turn towards the water, it’s the mooring-lane right in front of you. The ship’s probably eighty or ninety feet, a three-master, dark wood, seemed to be in good shape. When you walk down the dock it bends right for the last bit of it, the last hundred feet or so, the ship’s going to be on your left in that last bendy bit. Oh, and in case it helps, I heard one of the guys aboard ship complaining about how early they’re setting sail tomorrow morning, sometime before dawn, if you want to go see them you better not wait.”     I’ll hold off on the rest of the response until the Ydoran/Caleb thread is completed, so that’s it for now!
J* He says this at the end of Drayven’s solicitation, so this price is for both the ‘tip’ and for the map too. The round of drinks will cost another 15 g.p.

Seizing upon what he thinks may be an opportunity in the unofficial sanction, Ydoran implores “could you deputize us somehow? Would it be possible to bestow on us some official designation, perhaps a letter, so that we may have the power to search Darius’ ship? Perhaps you could provide us with some men from the town’s guard?”

When meeting back on the docks with the others, Ydoran will share what’s transpired. After the group has had an opportunity to share information, Ydoran will suggest that they scout out the ship area to determine how they might try to board the vessel, and make a plan from there.
